Are your old blinds or curtains looking a little tired? Would you like to give your Bromley home a makeover while at the same time adding practicality and versatility to every room? And how about increasing the appeal and value of your home and lowering utility bills? Yes? We can help!
We have transformed numerous Bromley homes, offices, and businesses during the last 25 years by switching their dated drapes and Venetian blinds for new sleek interior window shutters. If your Bromley window coverings have lost their charm, it is probably time to look for a replacement. Luminous, airy, and forever fashionable, window shutters are the ideal solution to add style and elegance to a home.
Our shutter range offers an innovative and effective alternative to conventional blinds and curtains that look amazing and are extremely practical. With window shutters, you can wave goodbye to the days when washing a set of heavy curtains required a ladder, a lot of hassle to get them down and later put them back up, plus two trips to the dry cleaners. Shutters require minimum maintenance; a twice monthly dusting, and the occasional wipe down with a sponge will keep them looking as good as the day they were installed for years to come.
From classic rustic wooden designs to sparkling white or cool metallic finishes, we stock a choice of colours and shutter styles to create any desired effect. We can provide shutters for windows or doors of any shape or size, including bay windows, oddly shaped windows, extensively wide patio doors, and anything in-between.
We have fitted window shutters in many Bromley homes, from terraced semis on Magpie Hall Lane, to the large semis on Sunway Avenue, to offices on Newman Road; there’s a type of shutter for every property and room type.
We are Kent locals and enjoy working in Bromley, and we would love to transform your Bromley home as our next project!

The Kent market town of Bromley became a central residential location following the development of rail entry to London after 1860. It is now an important shopping, entertainment, and business hub. Light industry has evolved along the Cray Valley.
Bromlwy housing stock is diverse, with various properties to suit different budgets and lifestyles. The town has both historical and modern homes, including Period Victorian and Edwardian buildings along with newer builds and flats.
Bromley has several conservation areas, designated by the council to preserve the historic character and architecture of the buildings. These areas are often home to period properties, such as Georgian and Victorian townhouses, and are popular with families and professionals.
Our Bromley clients who live in period housing often opt for solid shutters. These are a good choice for period houses as they match the house’s character. Solid shutters provide excellent blackout and soundproofing, especially if your home is on a noisy street. They are made from solid wood panels and fitted with insulation to keep the room warm.
The town also has a range of modern homes built in recent years.
When choosing window shutters for a modern house, it’s important to consider the style and design of your home, as well as your specific needs and preferences. Choosing sleek and minimalist shutters will help create a cohesive and stylish look in your modern home.
The design of window shutters has three functions. Firstly, shutters help protect against the elements, especially wind and direct sunlight. Secondly, they provide privacy and are particularly useful in ground floor premises on busy streets. They are also a popular window covering in cafes, where the patrons might not like being a matter of interest for passers-by.
Shutters are also decorative. Their attractive design stems from their functionality. Originally, shutters were used instead of windows and were the only way the occupants of a room could manage the elements. However, today it is unthinkable to not have windows, so other than being ideal for privacy and helping to block the elements, shutters are decorative.
Made from sturdy wood or engineered wood, we have a window shutters style suitable for any room in the home, from the bathroom to the patio doors. We supply shutters with varied open and closing mechanisms, which we will demonstrate to you to help you make a choice.
In 2021 window shutters are becoming a trendy alternative to replace curtains and blinds. There’s nothing quite like window shutters to transform the whole house’s look while adding boatloads of practicality.
We are delighted to bring samples of shutters to show you in your own home, but if you want to know precisely how sash window shutters look installed or how tracked shutters work, you can visit one of our two high street showrooms. We have premises in Sidcup and Chislehurst, where you can see samples of plantation shutters, tier-on-tier models, cafe-style shutters, Victorian-style solid shutters, and more.
The main difference between blinds and shutters is how they are fitted to a window. Blinds are attached to the frame’s inside or above the window; shutters are connected to the door or window frame itself. Shutters are far sturdier than blinds and can last for decades, whereas you will likely find you need to replace flimsy blinds every few years. Shutters also look fabulous. Blinds, not so much.
At times we are asked if it is possible to fit shutters yourself. There are DIY products available, but for a couple of reasons, we advise caution with them.
A competent tradesperson or expert DIY-er could fit shutters themselves. However, we do not recommend this option and have fitted shutters for more than a few DIY-ers who started the job and found it was not as simple as they expected.
The art of perfect shutters is in the design and measuring, and if this is not done correctly, the project is doomed. We have honed our skills over many years, and as we only sell shutters, we feel we can call ourselves experts.
The DIY ranges problem is they depend on you to measure and allow for the inevitable irregularities of your window or door. Knowing how to assemble and make use of a standard-sized shutter is not as easy as it may first seem.
For this reason, we offer a full cost-effective supply and fit service for our shutters. You will find the bit more you pay for our services far outweighs the hassle you would likely encounter if attempting to fit off-the-shelf shutters yourself.
The simple answer is that shutters suit all properties of all ages and styles. Shutters are an excellent window dressing for any building style; we have installed shutters in diverse Bromley properties from Victorian to new builds. The Victorians used solid shutters to protect their homes, and modern solid shutters still look terrific on Victorian homes.
In modern times, we have an extensive shutter range that includes many shutters’ styles from café to tracked, and will complement any home décor.
One question that we are frequently asked is how much light shutters block out.
Shutters alone do not offer total blackout, as nothing can create full blackout if a room has windows or doors. Some light will always find a way through.
Shutters are one of the more efficient window dressings for controlling darkness if fully closed. Compared to curtains, Roam or Venetian blinds, shutters work better for blocking light.
If you want shutters but are worried about light getting through, a solution is to get shutters with integrated blackout blinds.
Shutters will help to keep a room warm, but their effectiveness depends on several factors, such as the quality of the shutters, the type of material used, and how well they are installed.
If the shutters are made of high-quality material, such as wood or insulated vinyl, and are installed properly, they can help to reduce heat loss by creating an insulating barrier between the window and the room. This can prevent cold air from entering the room and warm air from escaping, which helps to keep the room warmer.
Our superbly designed shutters make a plain window or door simply irresistible
Having an arched window in your house is a unique look and individuality to your home however, can be a really difficult window to dress. This is because many dressings for these arched windows can cause for the arch of the window to be compromised and loose the original wow factor.
We feel that window plantation shutters are the best way to dress an arched window as you are able to have light control on your window without loosing the beauty of the arched window.
We are one of Bromley’s longest established family-owned window covering companies, with hundreds of happy customers and window shutter installation success stories across the county. For more than 25 years, we have installed shutters throughout the South East of England including Kent, London, Essex, Surrey, and Sussex.
